Pyramids of Giza

The pyramids must unarguably be your first stop in Egypt. The pyramids of Giza, located on the Giza plateau and are the last seven wonders of the ancient world, undeniably make one of the most famous landmarks in the world. 

A visit to the great pyramids (also known as the pyramids of Khufu) usually tops the list for most tourists. The pyramids are 138 meters tall and guarded by a limestone sphinx structure. Tourists can visit the pyramids via the robber's tunnel but must ensure to maintain decorum.

The Abu Simbel Temple was constructed in honor of the great Ramses II, who was known to be a massive architectural fanatic. Resources claim that the entire temple was purposely structured so that the sun's rays would orient twice a year (on the date of Ramsey II's ascension to the throne and one on his birthday). However, the temple had to be relocated in the 1960s to save it from disappearing from the increasing water of the Aswan dam.

Aswan and Philae Temple
